2:30 Kick-Off

Solihull Moors Foundation played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Coleshill Strollers, dominating much of the match but being frustrated by some outstanding goalkeeping from the Coleshill side.

Moors started brightly, creating several chances with some fluent interplay. Glenn Page, making his debut, came close to opening the scoring when his powerful strike hit the post and bounced to safety. However, despite their early pressure, Coleshill took the lead midway through the first half after capitalising on a needless free kick.

The goal ignited a response from Solihull, with Steve Cox and Brendan Maxwell both forcing cracking saves from the Coleshill keeper. With halftime approaching, a slick passing move finally allowed Brendan Maxwell to equalise, calmly slotting past the unfortunate Coleshill keeper.

In defence, Tim Tyler and Pete Hurrell were resilient throughout, handling Coleshill’s attacks with composure and ensuring the opposition had limited opportunities to extend their lead.

Billy Morrison also played a crucial role, putting in a selfless performance that enormously contributed to the outcome. His work rate and willingness to sacrifice for the team were key in keeping the pressure on Coleshill and supporting both attack and defence.

The second half turned scrappy, with Coleshill hitting the woodwork twice, thanks to excellent goalkeeping from Phil Duffy, who made some crucial saves. Moors, too, hit the woodwork again and nearly found a winner in the dying moments, but Tony Walker was denied by another superb last-minute save from the Coleshill keeper.

Despite dominating for long periods, Moors had to settle for a 1-1 draw, with both goalkeepers and defenders playing a key role in the result.

Solihull Moors 1 Coleshill Strollers 2

2:30 Kick-Off

Solihull Moors Over 57s faced off against league leaders Coleshill Strollers Over 57s in what promised to be an intense battle. The match lived up to expectations as both sides displayed grit and determination from the first whistle to the last.

Coleshill Strollers wasted no time asserting their dominance, launching into the game with an early burst of energy that saw them carve out opportunities. Their efforts were rewarded with a well-crafted team goal, putting them ahead on the scoreboard and setting the tone for the match.

However, Solihull Moors quickly regrouped and tightened up their defense, frustrating their opponents and gradually finding their rhythm in the game. As the half progressed, they began to assert themselves more in attack, creating chances of their own.

A moment of excitement came when Brendan Maxwell thought he had equalised for Moors with a powerful strike from a quick free-kick, only for the referee to controversially bring play back. Nevertheless, Moors' persistence paid off when Brendan Mulcahy found the back of the net with a well-taken goal, leveling the score and injecting new life into the match.

With the momentum shifting in their favour, Moors continued to press forward, with Mulcahy coming close to capitalising on a defensive error only to be denied by a last-ditch recovery from his opponent. Despite their efforts, they were unable to find a breakthrough before halftime, heading into the break with the score tied at 1-1.

The second half saw a more open game, with both teams trading attacks in search of a crucial goal. Unfortunately for Solihull Moors, they were caught off guard early in the half, as Coleshill Strollers' center forward found space to fire a precise shot past the goalkeeper and restore their lead.

Despite their best efforts to claw their way back into the game, Moors struggled to break down a resilient Coleshill defense, who remained organised and posed a threat on the counter-attack. Moors came close to equalising on several occasions, with one effort striking the crossbar, but luck was not on their side as the final whistle blew with the scoreline reading 2-1 in favour of Coleshill.

Although disappointed with the result, Solihull Moors Over 57s can take pride in their performance against the league champions, having pushed them all the way in a closely contested match. As they look ahead to their final game against Birmingham WFC, they will be eager to end the season on a high note and build on the positives from this encounter.
